Day 19- Beyoncé Knowles

Alright, you knew this was coming! To be honest, as Beyoncé is always such an icon in fashion and entertainment, I was positive I would eventually attempt to contact her. For now, I sent her a message through Facebook (I’m pretty sure.) Again, if you know a more direct and legit way of reaching any of these people, please let me know.

Beyoncé started out as a member of the R&B girl group Destiny’s Child, but she soon started flying solo when the group disbanded in 2004. Still, it is this venture that launched her career. These days, she is still singing, and also acting in such major motion pictures as “Dreamgirls” (she was nominated for two Golden Globes) and “Obsessed.”

Knowles and fellow Destiny alum Kelly Rowland formed the Survivor Foundation, in order to help people who had been victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Of course, these days, she is best known for her act of good sportsmanship and graciousness toward fellow singer Taylor Swift. At the MTV Video Music Awards, while accepting her award Best Female Video, Kanye West interrupted Swift by stating that Beyoncé’s “Put a Ring On It” was “one of the best videos of all time.” When Beyoncé went up on the stage to accept her award for “Video of the Year,” she invited Swift to come up and “have her moment.”

Truly, this diva is a class act. She was also Ambassador for the 2005 World Children’s Day, which takes place on November 20th and aims to raise funds and awareness for children’s causes. It’s clear she’d make a great “ambassador” to our cause, as well!

And nobody has to “put a ring on it” to seal the deal.

Love, Laurita 😉
