Day 125- Daniel Craig

“I knew it was to early to promote you.”

“Well, I understand double 0’s have a very short life expectancy…so your mistake will be short-lived.”

-Judi Dench as “M” and Daniel Craig as “James Bond” in “Casino Royale

On screen, the debonair Daniel Craig is full of sassy quips and clever comebacks as the indomitable– and irrepressible– James Bond.

Off screen, however, Craig is anything but arrogant. The latest Brit to play 007 doesn’t lose his cool, but he does support various noble causes in England and abroad. He is a supporter of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Comic Relief, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, and the Afghanistan Relief Organization.

Craig also backs Barnardo’s, which “helps children, young people and their families over the long term to overcome the most severe disadvantages  […] and to tackle the challenges of disability.

I’m a big fan of the most recent James Bond films, but I’m an even bigger fan of heroes with a cause. I really hope that Mr. Craig will respond to my plea with the amount of enthusiasm that chef Gordon Ramsay did.

I want to apologize for not blogging yesterday, but my return flight from Puerto Rico was yesterday, at about 4 a.m. So, I rang in the New Year with my family (while sitting at my laptop, “Tiny Tim,” and blogging!), and did not go to bed at all after that. Yep, it was, very literally, an all-nighter.

At some point, while gazing at myself in the mirror of the airplane lavatory, I discovered why they’re called “red-eye” flights.

It was very hard for me to leave, but I knew that I wanted to be in Orlando just as much as I wanted to stay in Puerto Rico. My dad waited for me, and I missed the “cold” weather. The pictures will be posted soon on my Facebook page!

In the next few days until I begin classes on January 11th, I will most likely be getting caught up with letters. Be sure to send me an E-mail if you come up with any ideas, or if you have a question related to spina bifida, the mission of “Holdin’ Out for a Hero,” or Einstein’s brilliant theory of relativity. (Hey, you can ask any question you like– whether or not you receive an intelligible reply is completely up to me).

Please do stay tuned for another entry in just a little bit– I have a “double feature” tonight, to make up for yesterday.

Buenas noches (old habits die hard),

Laurita  🙂
