Feliz Cinco de Mayo, everybody! Whether you celebrate it or not, I hope you’ve managed to have a good time.
Let’s go to Washington for the latest on the Congressional Spina Bifida Caucus. It is my understanding that, according to the updated roster for 2010 on the Spina Bifida Assocation Web site, Rep. Zach Wamp of Tennessee is a new member of the caucus.
Mercifully, finding a list of other caucuses he is a member of was a piece of cake this time, as he has them listed on his Web site. Congressman Wamp is a member of the Immigration Reform Caucus, the Coalition on Autism Research and Education, the Congressional Cystic Fibrosis Caucus, the Congressional Human Rights Caucus, and the Sugar Reform Caucus. (Beware, high fructose corn syrup!)
One of Rep. Wamp’s priorities in Congress has been the preservation of an integral part of Native American history, namely through his Trail of Tears Documentation Act. He also signed legislation to preserve Moccasin Bend, which would protect the prehistoric site for future generations.
Please keep telling everyone about this initiative for spina bifida awareness. YOU are all my best resources! It would be great also if you could tell all of your friends on Facebook to “like” our page. That would help us out a lot.
Also, let’s make a conscious effort to support our supporters. Our very own “Day 209,” Spencer Day, will be performing tomorrow night at Fairfield Theatre in Fairfield, Connecticut. So, if you’re in the area or if you’re willing to make the plane ride, go see him, please! Let’s show some peace and love for Spencer, who genuinely wants to help us out with “Holdin’ Out for a Hero.” Check out his Web site for more details on his upcoming performances.
Buenas Noches, (and take it easy with the margaritas, okay? It ain’t apple juice!)
